Fire Department

The City of Summerville Fire Department is an combination department having an ISO Class 3 rating. We are an emergency service provider consisting of 5 full-time firefighters and 15 volunteer firefighters. The department has 17 Emergency Medical Responders (EMR)

Resources
Emergency response capabilities are achieved through the use of 3 engines, one squad truck, all of which are fully equipped to comply with NFPA and ISO requirements. We now have thermal imaging cameras that allow for enhanced visibility in hostile environments. They are carried so that all the city’s inhabitants may benefit from this technology.

The department is located in the center of Summerville to provide rapid response to any part of the city’s coverage area.

The City of Summerville has over 400 municipal fire hydrants. These hydrants are inspected per ISO requirements by suppression personnel. The department works closely with City of Summerville Public Works in an effort to ensure that hydrants will function properly when needed.

The department provides fire prevention, public education, and a Junior Fire Setter Intervention program. These programs are a good way to educate our youth and for firefighters to be involved with our community.
